Sad Tidings

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of several fine scientists and instructors. First, Norman Borlaug, father of the "green revolution" in agriculture. Dr. Borlaug's research in agronomy did more to end world hunger than any other individual had or has to this day. He was a true giant among researchers and humanitarians. Second, Dr. Wesley Bonds, my friend and associate who taught me how to sequence DNA and who, over the years has contributed more to genetics education than anyone I know. Finally, Professor Andre McNair, adjunct instructor of microbiology and graduate student at Howard University. Andre was a bright young talent, an excellent instructor and one of the nicest and most genial people I have had the privilege to know and work with. All were taken from us too soon and all will be sorely missed.
